Honesty is a must in every profession, but it's quite a challenge when you do business. What if your vendor sold you a defected item and refuses to take it back. Do you then sell it on to someone else while hiding the defect or put a stop to this vicious cycle and decide to bear the loss yourself with dignity? Do you really sell what you claim or just whitewash your products? Do you stay true to your word or become shaky when see a bigger opportunity?
Opportunities of profit abound in any business and so do pitfalls of loss. The only way to survive and succeed is to stay honest despite the pressure. Honesty is the best policy, as goes the cliché, to get into the elite business class of tomorrow who will be honored along with the prophets and martyrs..
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
'The trustworthy, honest Muslim merchant will be with the martyrs on the Day of Resurrection."
Abu Sa'eed narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"The truthful, trustworthy merchant is with the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs."
